Cooperating with Schools

Museums are making an indispensable contribution to society. It is our wish that children and young adults are able to participate as well. We live in a time of expanding digitalisation and we are convinced that the importance of direct encounters with original artefacts and artworks is growing at an equal rate. Authentic objects help understanding the context of history and the present. Within the concept of a holistic and individual approach to learning, the museum is a special learning environment that can react to the curriculum and special requirements on an individual basis.

In addition to communicating values and content, learning in a museum strengthens cognitive abilities, visual and symbolic thinking and abstract imagination. Exploring a work can also provide creative stimuli. Workshops offer the students an opportunity to put the new information to practice and to recognise and train their potential as well as problem-solving strategies through a creative process.

The diversity of the collections at Museum Ulm provides various points of contact with the curriculum: art, history, religion, ethics, the German language, nature studies, regional history and music.

Open Conversation: Let’s Talk!

We are inviting young adults between the ages of 15 and 28 to join our open conversation programme on twelve Thursdays, starting on 1 March 2018, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Let’s talk!

The Museum Ulm is an environment for learning and exploration, providing various opportunities to learn the German language, to expand that knowledge and to explore language in general outside the usual school environment. The diverse collections at Museum Ulm are an ideal base to educate and to help establish essential linguistic abilities. In an increasingly international world, the project ‘Let’s talk!’, which is supported by the city of Ulm, offers opportunities for young adults with international roots to practice speaking, understanding, writing and reading.

Twelve meetings in total will offer workshops at different stations within the museum, utilizing the various collections to encourage the participants to explore the artworks and to expand their vocabulary. Selected objects are prompting the participants to experiment, to exchange ideas and to discover new words in a casual atmosphere. Museum Ulm establishes a different learning environment where young adults can explore the German language in-depth and in a productive way.

Participation in ‘Let’s talk!“ does not require registration and is free of charge. You can join at any time.
