GLASOTRONIK même; Klänge, Objekte, Bilder, Szenen: Installation von Andreas Suberg im Rahmen der Ausstellung „Museum Ulm neu buchstabiert. Teil 2: M-Z“
Under the title GLASOTRONIK même; sounds, objects, images, scenes, the Museum Ulm is presenting two modules from the même cycle by composer, sound and media artist Andreas H.H. Suberg as part of the exhibition “A New Spelling of Museum. Part 2: M-Z” at the kunsthalle weishaupt, two modules from the même cycle by composer, sound and media artist Andreas H.H. Suberg.
The multi-sensory experience and perception of the audience is stimulated and promoted with the intermedia event format between literature, visual arts and music. The space-spanning installation magneto includes the drop composition Eros-Matrix – an 8-channel sound system of glass sound objects – a video projection and an interactive glass sound object, the glass granulate bowl “Broyeuse”. In this meditative sound space, the artist invites the audience to linger and actively participate with their eyes, ears and sense of touch.
A.H.H. Suberg has been working on the intermedia project Glasotronik for 35 years. The concept of the artistic exploration lies in the combination of the material glass with analogue and digital audio and video media. This combination of glass and electronics not only sets new accents in material discovery, but also builds a bridge over a period of approx. 5000 years, from the invention of glass, the oldest artificial material in the world, to today’s high technology.
Since 2010, Andreas H.H. Suberg has been artistically exploring the intermedial glasotronic même cycle (même, French for even), which refers in independent modules to the enigmatic work of Marcel Duchamp, in particular to the key work The Large Glass or The Bride Stripped Bare by Her Young Men, Even.
This artistic exploration finds expression in various genres such as performance, theatre, installation, sound/object, object, graphics, electro-acoustic music and video. In addition to the cross-references to the literary work of Raymond Roussel and Alfred Jarry, for example, the composer is also fascinated by the analogous allegories in the texts of the Blind Man’s Tale from De gli eroici furori (Of the Heroic Passions) by Giordano Bruno, which found expression in the music theatre O infelici amanti.
The music theatre O Infelici amanti for countertenor, four female voices, a glass vessel, the glass granulate bowl Broyeuse, live electronics, ring modulator and electro-acoustic sounds based on Giordano Bruno’s Story for the Blind will be premiered as part of the sound, space and video installation magneto.
The performers are Daniel Gloger – countertenor, Anja Bittner and Svea Schildknecht – soprano, Hanna Roos and Barbara Ostertag – mezzo-soprano, Andreas H.H. Suberg – sound/direction, live electronics and artistic direction.
