Film screening at the Ulm School of Design building

As part of the exhibition “Departure into Reality: Films by Günther Hörmann,” the HfG Archive will screen the film “We Once Sat in the Same Boat, the Captain Lives, the Crew Is Dead” on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 11:15 a.m. in the Small Lecture Hall in the former building of the Ulm School of Design.

The film documents the strike by the employees and workers of the television tube factory “Videocolor” in Ulm in January 1982. The French parent company wants to close the plant and lay off the 1,700 employees. For three weeks, the strikers hold out without pay or strike pay, hoping to change the minds of the company’s top management in Paris. (Text: Filmdienst)
