NEUES IM FLUSS: 24. Triennale Ulmer Kunst
The 24th Ulm Art Triennial, running from July 11 to August 30, 2026, invites visitors to discover the full diversity of contemporary art in the region. Since its founding in 1955—initially as a biennial, and every three years since 1961—it has served as the central platform for current artistic creation from Ulm, Neu-Ulm, and the Alb-Donau district. It offers insights into a vibrant, multifaceted art scene that shapes the region and extends its influence beyond its borders.
The Triennial fosters dialogue between art and the public. It creates spaces for exchange, encounter, and new perspectives, and in particular provides a stage for younger and as yet little-known artists to present themselves to a wider audience for the first time and gain attention beyond the regional scene.
In 2026, the exhibition will once again be organized through the established collaboration between the Museum Ulm, the Kunstverein Ulm, the Künstlergilde Ulm e.V., and the Bund Bildender Künstler (BBK) Ulm – Künstlerhaus Ulm. Due to the comprehensive renovation of the Museum Ulm, the Triennial will be presented in the spaces of the partner institutions. The three-part exhibition will be complemented by a diverse accompanying program that deepens the exchange of ideas and opens up new approaches to art.
The 2026 Triennial will gain particular appeal through its temporal and thematic connection to the International Danube Festival. Thematically, it takes up the motif of the river.
As a unifying and transformative element, the Danube symbolizes movement, change, and exchange—as a continuous flow of ideas, perspectives, and artistic positions. Artists who were born, live, or work in Ulm or Neu-Ulm, in the Alb-Donau district, or in the Neu-Ulm district were invited to participate in the 24th Ulm Art Triennial by submitting artworks created in the past three years. The selection of applicants was made by an independent five-member jury consisting of art historians and artists recommended by the organizing institutions.
The following artists are participating in the Triennial:
