From Friends for Friends
Since its foundation in 1982, the Verein der Freunde des Ulmer Museums has supported the directorate in its work. One of its aims is to provide funds for the purchase of works of art for the museum. So far, the Museum Ulm has been able to acquire 33 works of art with the help of the association. The palette ranges from important works by 15th century Ulm masters such as Martin Schaffner and Jörg Stocker, a 17th century gilded ivory tankard by Hans Ludwig Kienlin the Younger and Johann Ulrich Hurter, to modern drawings and prints of the 1920s and 1930s by George Grosz, Otto Dix and Jeanne Mammen, to contemporary works by Kiki Smith, Max Hattler and Heinz Mack.
With this small exhibition of purchases, the Museum Ulm would like to take the opportunity to thank the citizens of Ulm for their commitment, which has manifested itself in the more than 30 years of activity of the association.
