See you soon: The Lion Man returns to the Museum Ulm in January 2027

On display again at the Ulm Museum starting January 16, 2027: The Lion Man from the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Caves and Ice Age Art of the Swabian Alb”

From January 16, 2027, through June 6, 2027, the Lion Man will take up residence in the new permanent archaeological exhibition “In Search of What it Means to be Human: Archaeology Around Ulm” at the Ulm Museum. Due to renovation work, this exhibition will only be open until June 2027, before the adjacent entrance building of the Ulm Museum is demolished and rebuilt in the summer of 2027. The Lion Man will probably return in another guest exhibition by the Museum Ulm at the neighboring kunsthalle weishaupt in summer 2027. The big reopening of the completely renovated Museum Ulm is planned for the ende of the year 2029.

From January 2024 to October 2026, the figure from the Ulm Museum’s collection was on loan to the neighboring kunsthalle weishaupt for various guest exhibitions organized by the Ulm Museum: From December 13, 2025, to October 4, 2026, in a small presentation titled “Fabulous! The Lion Man and His Descendants”; from November 21, 2024, to October 5, 2025, in the exhibition “A New Spelling of Museum. Part 2: M–Z,” and from January 14, 2024, to October 27, 2024, in the first part of the exhibition titled “A New Spelling of Museum. Part 1: A–L.”
