We are celebrating 100 years of Museum Ulm!
Advance ticket sales for the gala evening on October 4, 2025, have begun!
Together with the Friends of the Ulm Museum Association, the museum invites you to a gala evening featuring an aperitif, sound art by Minimalife, and an art auction.
A limited number of tickets are now available at the ticket office of the kunsthalle weishaupt (Hans-und-Sophie-Scholl-Platz 1, 89073 Ulm) and at the ticket office of the HfG Archive Ulm (Am Hochsträß 8, 89081 Ulm).
Opened on October 4, 1925, as the Museum of the City of Ulm, it emerged from the Arts and Crafts Museum founded in 1882 and the collections of the Association for Art and Antiquities. Today, the Museum Ulm brings together 40,000 years of art, culture, and design history under one roof. Founding director Julius Baum (1882-1959) shaped the programmatic profile of the museum, which boasts archaeological sensations such as the figure of the so-called Lion Man from the UNESCO World Heritage Site, late Gothic art from Ulm and Upper Swabia, and prominent collections of international graphic art and modern art from the 20th and 21st centuries.
Despite the closure due to renovation work, we are opening the construction fence for the centenary and inviting everyone to visit our museum with a colorful program including a birthday cake with Mayor Martin Ansbacher, the opening of the new workshop rooms with Iris Mann (deputy mayor and head of the departments of culture, education, and social affairs), creative market, opening of the new offices in the former commercial bank, festive evening with sound art and art auction, party, museum ideas workshop with the Baupiloten, guided tours, and artist talks.
Detailed information about the program can be found in our flyer (PDF download): Flyer 100 Years of Museum Ulm

Museum Ulm under renovation
Behind the construction fence: Museum Ulm on the market square has been closed to the public since April 2023 and the conversion and renovation work has been underway since September 2023. Four of the seven buildings in the museum ensemble are being remodelled and renovated – in stages until 2029.
Dr Stefanie Dathe (Head of Museum Ulm), Milica Jeremic (Head of Central Building Management, City of Ulm), Daniel Pfeffer and Melanie Struwe (PSA Architekten) provide insights into the process: Why does the museum need to be extensively converted and refurbished? How are those responsible proceeding? And what will the new Museum Ulm look like?
