Museum Ulm under renovation
Behind the construction fence: Museum Ulm on the market square has been closed to the public since April 2023 and the conversion and renovation work has been underway since September 2023. Four of the seven buildings in the museum ensemble are being remodelled and renovated – in stages until 2029.
Dr Stefanie Dathe (Head of Museum Ulm), Milica Jeremic (Head of Central Building Management, City of Ulm), Daniel Pfeffer and Melanie Struwe (PSA Architekten) provide insights into the process: Why does the museum need to be extensively converted and refurbished? How are those responsible proceeding? And what will the new Museum Ulm look like?

Museum Ulm @kunsthalle weishaupt
The Museum Ulm is currently undergoing transformation. The HfG-Archiv remains open as normal during the construction work.
At the moment, the Museum Ulm is also a guest in the neighbouring kunsthalle weishaupt. The famous Lion Man (UNESCO World Heritage) is also exhibited there… —› more

HfG-Archiv open as usual!
While the Museum Ulm on the Marktplatz is closed for renovation and reconstruction, the HfG-Archiv on Hochsträß remains open as usual. Currently on view:
In collaboration with TU Darmstadt and Goethe University Frankfurt, the HfG-Archiv / Museum Ulm is presenting an exhibition that focuses for the first time on the pioneering architectural teaching at the Ulm School of Design (HfG). Founded in 1953 as the successor to the legendary Bauhaus, the HfG aimed to promote a sustainable material culture and at the same time strengthen the young democracy and the newly won freedom in Germany. —› more
